“Let go of what no longer serves you” These words have becomes almost a spiritual slur. It’s on every Full moon ceremony meme and in every guided meditation and understandable so as we live in such a fast paced world confronted with so many ideas, trends and have to’s that we can’t let go fast enough before we grab on to the next thing. We hardly have time to become still and think about what it is that we are holding on to and what it represents in our journey and soul life, how it relates to our belief systems and patterns and how that is affecting our sense of self.
So saying “let go of what no longer serves you” might be good advice, but how is it exactly that we do that? As with all things I would say to each his own and what might work for one person might not work for the next. The same as healing modalities where one person will strictly trust their GP and gladly take all the antibiotics, while the next person will visit the acupuncturist before even thinking about a GP. I once read in a book that it’s not WHAT we believe in that works, it’s the fact that we do believe.
Getting back to letting go. There are many ways to facilitate this process and many modalities that can assist energetically to help create momentum for that shift to take place or remove blockages in the energetic field or assist in clearing the cellular memory of the issue at hand after the conscious work has been done. This will make it easier for change to also manifest in the physical as from a metaphysical point of view everything that happens in the physical must happen in the etheric first. However, the most important work to be done to facilitate this change is the conscious work- the most important aspects will be awareness, intent, and action!
- Becoming Aware
Becoming aware of an issue is shining the light on it and inspecting it from all angles and to successfully do this it’s important to become the observer because when we become the observer we do not identify with the issue but see it from a higher perspective without judgment but with understanding and not making up excuses from the reactive position of self-defense… This can be difficult because it requires us to ask difficult questions, visit unpleasant places in ourselves, and take responsibility not only for our past but also for our present and future.
For this I personally use a very powerful process of Unblocking that falls under the paradigm of Metapsychology to help you view a situation and understand it in its entirety -not just from the angle from which you have been looking at it, because if you’ve been struggling to let go of it chances are you haven’t gotten to know the entirety of the issue and thus it has stuck with you.
But like I said to each his own and that’s why as an energy healer I like to know and use multiple healing modalities. Depending on different people’s personalities and also depending on their mental, emotional and spiritual vigor and strength to be present with and work through what needs to be worked through I would suggest different ways but in each of these ways, you would have to first become aware of what it is. This is important to me as I know there are some modalities that would just “remove” or “clear” whatever it is but I believe that if you haven’t become conscious of it, how do you consciously learn the lesson or heal from it, because if the lesson isn’t learnt or you don’t heal from it, you will keep on getting triggered or it will keep showing up in your life until you learn the lesson consciously and rationally. Ever heard a girlfriend complain: “Why do I keep dating the same men?”- Yeah, that! You (or she) will never know the answer to that question until becoming completely aware of your underlying belief systems and subconscious programs that are attracting certain experiences into your life.. Awareness WITHOUT JUDGEMENT I must add.
Now, many times the lesson has been learned or we actually have healed but have held on to certain false beliefs, in which case with the mere awareness of what it was and that you have learned the lesson, and reprogrammed your subconscious patterns around this- the remnants of that situation (which is what has kept you tied to it) will release, whether it is a false belief or an ex bf’s sweater who you thought you would never get over. Here an energetic cord cutting might also prove helpful. However, again, as much as you intend to release that pattern or belief, if you don’t know where it comes from, what the lesson is you need to learn from it, or what the road ahead looks like without this pattern or belief it will be picked right back up the next time you are triggered by being faced with a similar situation (that text you know you should ignore?)- this happens as this experience is still present and unresolved in our current frequency, usually still residing in our subconscious and thus will attract similar experiences that match that frequency. This happens to pull our attention towards that which we are unaware of so that we may then bring awareness to that dynamic/ situation in our lives.
When it comes to false belief systems picked up from parents e.g. Money is bad- it can sometimes be enough to just ask yourself; “Is this true for me?” No? What can I replace that with? “Money is energy that can be used to create positive change for myself and others.” Use the repetition of this affirmation as part of your morning routine or some other daily ritual to reprogram your subconscious mind in this regard. See my article on pendulums to find out how to incorporate the use of your pendulum in this regard.
So- now that we are faced with a similar experience (thank you Universe for giving me this opportunity to transmute this pattern in my life) and we are aware of it by recognizing it and knowing where it stems from we are faced with a choice- free will, do we want to repeat the same experience? Thus a conscious decision is needed here. This is where I make the turn. Every situation in our life leads us to making a decision, even not making a decision is a decision in itself. When doing Traumatic Incident Reduction and Unblocking the realization(as this is mostly subconscious decisions) of what the decision was that was made at the time of the incident taking place puts us in the perfect position to re-evaluate that decision and change it.
Letting go can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be. I heard these words in the darkest depths of hell struggling with shadows that felt much more powerful than me and when I finally learnt to befriend those shadows and step into my power, which I found hidden in those very shadows-I finally understood this to be the truth. This brings us to the second ingredient to this recipe…
Intention. The intention is everything. The intention is the ultimate magic ingredient. Across all spiritual practices stating the intent for the ritual or journey being done is always the most important aspect and is usually done before anything else. It is the coordinates you type into the GPS. There might be and usually are different routes to the same destination but the destination itself is fixed. Intention can replace any color candle, any crystal, or magickal herb. It is a way of focusing on the goal or what you want to achieve. I believe intention goes hand in hand or rather can be supported and strengthened by visualization. Let’s look at an example here. When wanting to break my social drinking habit it wasn’t enough for me to intend to do it because the moment I found myself in a social environment or after a long shift the subconscious beliefs of ‘it will help me switch off’ or ‘I had a long shift, I deserve it’ was like auto-play in my mind triggered by the environment I was in and similar past experiences. What did help me was to pair visualization with the intention to create an ACTION PLAN. So when I found myself in the headspace of resolving to quit drinking. I then added visualization to place myself in that situation beforehand- sort of like a simulation in a controlled environment, a rehearsal for the final play. So I created the happening in the etheric before it took place in the physical. I envisioned and decided what I would drink instead, it didn’t stop there though. I also envisioned myself feeling content with not drinking knowing that this is for my highest and best in this way already rectifying the emotion through the power of thought. I also visualized what I would reply to surprised reactions of my peers not able to understand why I wasn’t drinking. Adding on another layer of protection to my intention.
In this way you again tackle the situation from all angles. The intention is there and when the situation arises, the ‘blueprint’ of how I want the situation to play out has already been created. Thus I can find myself in the situation knowing that this is the opening act of my new play (new behavior) but luckily I have rehearsed it enough so that I can now step on stage with confidence. To take ACTion
Here I have to add that none of this is a one-time thing it is an ongoing process and it is through the repetition of these steps that the desired change takes place. So if you do it one time and it doesn’t work don’t wonder why. How long did it take you to create this habit or pattern? Probably quite a while.
According to Dr. Maxwell Maltz a plastic surgeon who originally noticed that it would take patients 21 days MINIMUM to get used to their new features and then started studying this timeline to find similar results in his own efforts to make changes in his life. This got swept up and the MINIMUM part conveniently fell away to create the myth that it takes 21 days. However there is no set rule for this, it depends on YOU. How conscious that awareness was, How definite that decision was and your ability to carry through decisions are and how clear your intention and visualization was. The good thing is that you can LEARN all of the qualities and you should. It helps you live a more fulfilling life and be a better, happier and healthier person.
So there you have it.
- Awareness from the stand point of the observer-without judgment, merely being present with what it is you wish to change. Placing your full attention on it so that you may come to know it on an intimate level and become conscious of any lessons you can learn from it. Sometimes just replacing the belief and then using the repetition of that affirmation to reprogram the subconscious mind can bring about the desired change.
- Intention and Visualization.
The Power combo. State your intentions clearly to yourself and use the repetition of an affirmation to help you focus on your intention and anchor it into your subconscious, like mentioned above (sometimes it is necessary to state your intention to someone else if your belief system or habit involves or affects them, however be very sure to not pass blame here and take full responsibility for YOUR actions especially if you fail a few times*). Then create the change clearly in your mind by implementing the senses and creating a clear blueprint of the desired replacing action, thought or belief.
- Action
If you’ve done the necessary work beforehand the action should follow suit. You are already aware. You can’t un-know something you know. You made the decision to change it and used affirmations to program that decision into your subconscious. You created the blueprint of the desired outcome with your intention and visualization.
So now you can go ahead and do you full moon ceremony, charge those crystals sister, write this thing you want to be rid of on a piece of paper and burn it. This adds power to your effort but for it to work you have to make the actual effort. So mote it be!
My practice is also open to offer support in whichever way you may need at this time in your journey and I will be honored to serve in whatever way I can.
In humbleness and respect to your journey
